Galaxy AI want to set a default app for opening a .url file. I've read solutions for a Pixel smartphone that mention phone settings menu that is not available on A54 5G smartphone. The menu allows you to associate apps with file extensions. It would be the solution that solves my problem that I'm about to describe.
Are there any plans to add this menu to the Samsung UI?
I have an app installed that can create .url files and another app that can open .url files. Using the My Files app, it will not recognize that I have an app that can open the file. It just keeps telling me
"You don't have any apps that can open this type of file."
How is this determined?
I also tried selecting Share and the app starts and reports " Problem opening file ... Please give storage permissions" but there is no option in the app to set permissions. I checked in the phone's settings menu and the app has all permissions. There's no restrictions listed. So I don't know why it's getting this error message. The file is in path "/storage/emulated/.toggelis/"
I have tested this in another file manager and I can add a ".url" file association to open ".url" with the app I have installed and it works correctly.
Has anyone encountered this kind of problem with file extensions and the My Files app - is it a bug?
Any ideas on a work around?
