You can use an alternative. Just download Google Lens from the Play Store. Now, whenever you want to search for an item displayed on your screen, just take a screenshot, open the Google Lens app, and drag the search box to what you were looking for. Although a bit lengthy, Circle to Search works similarly. This is what I used to do before receiving the current update.
Also, if the Edge panel is available on your device, you can add the Google Lens app there so that you can launch the app without opening the Gallery app.
