Hi guys~

My phone is a Galaxy A72. It's facing some zoom problems recently.

So one of the selling points of A72 is the 30x space zoom. But recently this function seems to be failed. When I take photos with 30x, the preview is good but the resulting image is zoomed out to 20x only.

I did a test: I focused on a distant object (say, a road sign). Then I took a photo with 20x zoom. With the same angle, I took another photo with 30x zoom. The preview was well-zoomed and well-stabilized but the resulting photo was the same as the 20x photo.

I looked back to the test photos that I took when the phone was brand new (in early April 2021), the 30x photo was very different from the 20x photo. But I didn't notice exactly when did this problem appear.

The OIS seems working and I could take clear photos up to 20x. So I think it is not a hardware problem.

The version of my camera app is 11.0.11.99. The troubleshooting steps that I took are:
-restart the phone
-check os update (which is most updated)
-check app update (which is most updated)
-clear cache and data
-reset app setting
But none of them works.

Does anyone have the same problem or is that just me? Do you have any suggestions to fix it?

 Thanks a lot!

Hi @Mike1729, thanks for reaching out to us. Based on what you're describing, I suggest sending an Error Report via the Samsung Members app so that we can look further into this.

To do this:

Open Samsung Members app > Get Help > Error Reports > Camera > Describe issue and frequency > Tick 'send log data' > Attach a photo as example, before vs after issue if possible > Send.

These error reports go to our team for analysis. Once they have been examined, they will get back to you with a response which can be viewed via the in-app notification bell. I recommend sending these reports within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring to increase the likelihood of the logs capture any potential software glitches.
