I am not getting 4g service on my A35 and am getting messages my phone will not make calls after Oct 28. I was told it was to do with my sim needing updating, but that doesn't make sense as it used to work. I think it stopped after a software update. Would it be the sim?

Depending on your carrier you could try this to see if you phone will still be able to function fully from the 28th October.

For Telstra customers:
Text "3G" to 3498.

For Optus:
Text "3" to 3498

Voda might be same as Optus 🤷

Have you tried doing a reset of the network settings?

I have tried all that. I don't have volte option which the carrier requires after 3g shutdown.

I haven't seen the VoLTE options in settings on Samsung devices for a few years now.

What happened when you sent the text to check your phones compatibly?

The other thing to try is reset APN to default, under connections->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names

It says calls are going via 3g. I called Aldi who claimed the phone does not support all bands. I checked and it covers all bands. On my Aldi account it specifies 4g with volte is required.

Also, in the Mobile Networks, in settings, what is the phone set to under Network Mode?

Lastly, how old is the phone?

:edit if possible, try another sim card, from another telco if you have a friend or family that you can test with. 1729580081590_1729580081585_0.png

I tried another sim but couldn't tell if it was OK as the sms check couldn't determine issue with that sim. It is set to 3g/4g/5g

Also carriers have to implement VoLTE for individual phone models so it is worth checking for each carrier, like, as suggested, different sims for the other providers. Originally some resellers hadn't updated VoLTE for their services so rely on primary carriers.

Also read up on Access Point Names (APNs) for your carrier as your settings may need updating.carriers sometimes have more than one APN setting.

There are a number of 4G phones which don't have VoLTE. See my comment above.
