Galaxy Note20 Ultra camera - blurry zoom between 1x - 5x zoom

Hi,

Used to be able to take very clear photos, and using the 108mp camera allowed me to zoom in to see finer details in the photos.

However, recently the camera seemed blurry (the photos taken also unable to zoom into finer details as before). When using the camera and zooming in, it gets blurry (between 1x to 5x zoom), but will then become very clear when it hits 5x zoom. Is this a software issue, and are there any solutions to this? Will the upcoming one ui 4 fix this software issue?

My Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G suddenly could not focus both for video and photos. I only dropped it 2x since January 2021 and it was from 1m. Forget about resetting the software or upgrading the camera software. My guess is this is a camera hardware problem. Samsung did not build a robust design to make the camera withstand falls. 
I give the phone a knock and viola the camera springs to focus.

Try the following:
Go to Settings > Apps > Camera > Storage > Clear data, Clear cache.
This seems to work for me. I am still verifying.

Sorry. Software settings do not work. This seems to be a hardware problem.  So software update will fix it.  The solution is really a knock on the phone and the camera mechanism will start to focus. I hope Samsung will build more robust phones that can withstand phone drops.

hi all, my Note 20 Ultra and S22 (non ultra) both cannot focus on near objects. I asked Samsung shop and the staff told me it's true. ONLY S22 ULTRA can take microshots because it comes with "Focus enhancer" (like DSLR) that my 2 phones are not equipped with. Samsung has been praised for its camera shots for years so should not overlook such importance as the S22 non-ultra latest phone camera can't even compete with Iphone 12 and 13 pro phones that can take microshots

I using a note 20 ultra and I am having the camera blurry issue too. Think it is about time to switch back to iPhone. Seen like s22 have this problem too

My wife and I both have the Note 20 and both experience the same blurry pictures as described here.   I haven't found anywhere any fix.   I've tried all of the resets.

Read the posts above.  If you're  experiencing the same issue as me, your camera is blurry from 1-5x zoom.  When you are experiencing this problem, give the phone a little tap on top, and it will focus again.  It's not a permanent fix, but it works and it's free!
