Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to check if anyone has experience their note 20 ultra to have a screen flickering issue?

1st incident: I was only charging my phone then the screen suddenly turned to green and white, i tried to restart by pressing volume down and power button but still the same issue, issue keeps on going until it powered off (battery drained)

When it powered off due to no battery it seems that the issue got fixed and then when i charged it and powered back on the phone went back to normal

However there are times that my screen will flicker and would get resolved by shutting down the phone (power off) and turning it back on.

2nd incident: Screen started to flicker again (1 min) accidentally open netflix and played a video and the issue stopped.

When my phone start to flicker its screen i tried to open netflix and it seems that it is resolving the issue.

Just checking if someone has experience the same issue and have their phone check ?

Wanted to know if it is a hardware or software issue.

Appreciate your help on this

I know what Samsung Service Center will say: Screen replacement. Kung FREE, replace screen. Kung merong bayad around 16k, DON'T. Start saving up for new phone, ideally with Snapdragon latest chipset.

Hello there! Roelss08,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with your beloved Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra having screen flickering issues. I feel and understand why you are worried for a device that you've take care so much. If my device is facing similar experience, I will get worried too.

Before you try out the below recommendations as to your solution, be sure to check if your device's software are updated with the latest version. Please check how to update your mobile device's software in the following order.

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

What to do if the screen on your device is flickering.

If the screen on your device is flickering, there are a few steps you can follow to find out whether the issue is software or hardware-related.

Method 1. Check your device for damage.

If there is damage to your screen, this could be causing your screen to flicker. You can visit the nearest authorized Samsung Service Center in your area.

Method 2. Restart your device.

Restarting the device is often the quickest and easiest way to resolve software issues.

  • via Power Key: Press and hold the Power key, and then tap Restart. Tap Restart again to restart your device.
  • via Notification panel: Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel >  Power icon, > Restart > Restart.

Method 3. Check in Safe Mode.

Booting your smartphone in safe mode is also another option to find out if the screen still flickers or not. Safe mode is like a diagnostic tool to help identify the problems on your device.

Step 1: Turn off your device then power it on.

Step 2: When the Samsung logo appears by itself, press and hold the Volume Down key.

Step 3: The device will switch on in Safe mode. Safe mode will be displayed on the bottom left of the screen.

  • If the issue is gone in Safe mode: One of your recently downloaded apps was likely the cause of the problem.
  • If the issue still exists: Downloaded apps may not be the cause of the problem. You may need to reset the phone or tablet to the factory setting.

Method 4. Manage your brightness.

If your screen is still flickering, try adjusting your brightness settings.

1. Go to Settings >  Display

2. Tap the switch to deactivate 'Adaptive brightness'.

3. If you have noticed the flickering with low brightness, slide the bar to increase the display brightness.
