I recently used smart switch to transfer my data to note 8. And now my text messages have been separated, sent and reply are two different text message instead of one like before. So now my old text messages don't flow like a conversation. Please Help

Hi @Ksingh78, that is strange. Did you Smart Switch from a non-Samsung device?

A few troubleshooting tips I can suggest would be to Smart Switch again but only select Messages and Contacts to be transferred over.

I would also suggest checking the Contacts app and merge any duplicate contacts. To do this, go into the:

Contacts app > ☰ > Manage contacts > Merge contacts

Hi @

I have exactly the same problem.

I've transfered my messages from my Redmi note 10 pro to my Galaxy S10+ and some conversation has been separated in two (received / sent).

I've tried to only transfer "Calls and contacts" and "Messages" but it didn't solve the problem. I didn't have any duplicated contacts.

That is pretty annoying, is there any solution?

Thank you

Hey @bananapancakejem

Thanks for reaching out. I suggest sending an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated by our research and development team. Error reports assist with identifying any deviations in your device performance. Once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further steps.

To send an error report:
Samsung Members app > Support > Error reports > select issue category > Describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘Send system log data’ > ‘Send’ in top right.

Kind Regards,

I just switched from a Galaxy S8 to the S24 and the same thing has happened. It separated pictures to one thread and some text to another thread from the same person/same phone number. What I have noticed is that it seems to think that part of that thread was a group chat to myself. So the replies on the same date are not in the same place. Makes absolutely no sense and appears no way to merge them. You'd think the technology would be better than that, just annoying. I also have a friend who passed away and would like to have kept those texts in one place on one thread.
