Several issues with dark mode on this new One UI 4.0 update that happened last night on my S21 Ultra.

First, the weather widget doesn't respect night mode (I have night mode turned on 24/7 - I have a light sensitivity issue):

It changed to this after sunset - still not dark mode in my opinion:

However, if I scroll down slightly, it appears to revert to dark mode:

Then, there's the clock widget - what are these bright squares doing on a screen in dark mode?:

There appears to be lack of proper testing, poor quality control, or Samsung just doesn't care.

Disappointing upgrade - if one can call it that!

I can't comment on the weather app, but regarding the clock widget, have you tried adjusting the settings?

Press and hold the widget until a menu pops up, tap the gear icon and try adjusting settings in there.

There's a day and night colors section in the settings and I can change that to Black to simulate dark mode, but that then no longer shows the icons for day (sun icon) or night (moon icon).

It's one or the other - not both - bummer!  I could even settle for grey scale (or transparency) instead of plain white.

What if you turn off Day/Night colours and just use Match with dark mode?

Outside of this, I'm sure @SamsungLaura or the other modes will forward your feedback to the appropriate team.

When I have settings similar to your screenshot, I have the following:

Here are a few other combinations:

It would be really awesome to have these issues sorted as I heavily depend on the different clocks (keeping in touch with family abroad) and also the weather - first thing I check in the morning.  Since I wake up rather early, seeing such a bright weather screen in total darkness is just plain ludicrous!

Hi @ak2766, thanks for bringing this to our attention. I suggest sending an error report via the Samsung Members app for this to be investigated. Error reports are sent to our team to identify any deviations in your device performance, once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further.

To send an error report:

Samsung Members > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘send system log data’ > Attach screen recording of issue > Send in top right.

OK - will make recording when it is night time here to show what it looks like early in the morning.

@SamsungLaura - Would it be considered rude to short-circuit an issue straight to Samsung Members?

It appears to me that the clock widget is just following the time of day in the respective parts of the world 🌎 and not your chosen light or dark theme.
