Stop auto download

Whenever I want to view a file online (eg a .pdf file), my S23 automatically downloads and stores the file onto my phone. This is getting really annoying and is a waste of storage space unless I go to the stored file and manually delete it. I've noticed this issue also on my previous S versions of samsung phones I've had.

Is there a way to stop my phone from saving files I only want to view, not save??

Thank you so much, but the "auto download" seems to happen no matter what browser I use.
I *think* this is a built-in function with Samsung S series phones.. 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes Firefox behaves differently so try to find similar settings there.

Also try Samsung internet which blocks downloads but I don't know what happens when you try to open. In some situations holding down instead of tapping may give you more options.

Note opening pdfs in Chrome using an extension will behave differently from opening pdfs normally.

Thanks, but as mentioned I think this is an issue with Samsung...was looking to see if anyone had devised a workaround for it.

I use Samsung Internet as my default browser (because of AI features) and at least with pdfs it gives you the option of either "Open with Drive" ( which in this case is Google Drive) or downloading the file.

Selecting "Opening" option doesn't download pdf. Don't know how this would go with other file type (other than pdfs) links.
