Have just moved from S9 to S21FE.  When I use smart switch to transfer files from sd card in S9 to new S21FE it doesn't recognise them as music files. Stores them in /backupsdcard folder. I want to store them in either samsung music or YT music. Is this possible?  Thanks!

Hi there, have to checked to see whether YT Music has the settings enabled to read your SD Card?

1. Click the upper left corner, that's how you get to your account and settings.
2. Click settings
3. Click library & downloads > enable Show device files.

Let us know how you go.

Yes device files enabled. The sd card is in old phone. No slot in new phone.

Thanks for clarifying @leenie48, in this case, you could perform a Smart Switch from your old device to your current device. This will send a copy of your data to the new phone.

Apologies @leenie48, I missed that comment!

Is this occurring with all your music files or a specific file type e.g .mp3, .m4a, etc.?

I have over 200 albums stored on my sd card. I have always used this option when no internet connection is available to play my music on my phone. Now new phone does not have sd card slot. When I try to copy these files from sd card in old phone to new phone via smart switch it copies them as wma files which are not recognised by any music player. It also puts them into a backupsddrive folder. I can't find any way of directing smart switch to do things differently.

Hi @leenie48, according to our service operation policy, Audio and video codecs for WMA/ WMV format aren't supported on Samsung Mobile phones or Samsung Music. However, you can download a 3rd party application that does support the WMA/WMV format from the Google Play store.

Some suggestions you can try out are Musicolet, VLC, and Poweramp.

Ok that worked. I downloaded music from sd card to music folder of old phone, downloaded musicolet, smartswitch transfer of files from old music folder to new one, and now playing using musicolet. Thanks!
