I want to dispose of my Galaxy S5.  Before I send the mobile for recycling I want to remove all of the calendar items from S Planner.  I've tried the following:

Applications / Application Manager / S Planner / Storage / Clear Data.  However that does not clear the calendar items.

Is there a way to completely erase all of the calendar items in S Planner?

Thanks

Hey @TEZZALEX, thanks for reaching out. Are you able to remove your email account from the S Planner app and your device settings?

Is the S Planner synced with any other calendar apps?

Hi SamsungLaura,

Thanks for your response.

1. Are you able to remove your email account from the S Planner app?

I am unable to find an email account associated with S Planner in any of the App info fields following this path: Settings\ Applications\ Application Manager\ S Planner

When I go to the Email app on the S5 it takes me to a set up screen so I guess that means that there's no email account associated with that app.  Similarly for the Gmail app asks me to add an email address.

2. Are you able to remove your email account from your device settings?

I'm not sure how to do this.  I've checked a number of YouTube videos and am not able to access or complete the instructions as I'm not seeing the same screens and fields as the author of the videos.

3. Is the S Planner synced with any other calendar apps

The S Planner is not synced with any other calendar app.  I disabled syncing a couple of weeks ago. However I found that I also have a Google Calendar on my S5 so I have deselected the Samsung Calendar that was listed under that app.

These are some of the notes I took as I was preparing the device for recycling.

  • Backup has been done from Galaxy S5 to the Galaxy S8
  • 20 Jun 2022: Encrypted data
  • 20 Jun 2022: Ran Shreddit
  • 20 Jun 2022: Removed the following accounts: What’s App, Samsung Calendar, Google, (NB unable to remove Samsung Account.  Need to contact Samsung re this)
  • 08/07/2022: Ran Shreddit again; sent query to Samsung Community re how to remove Samsung account from the S5 prior to disposal;

Thanks again for your assistance.  I hope the above is useful.

Hi @TEZZALEX,

You mentioned clearing data in your original post. Are you able to clear data AND clear cache to see if this resolves the issue.

applications > applications manager > all apps > S planner > clear data AND clear cache

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

I tried the fix i.e. applications > applications manager > all apps > S planner > clear data AND clear cache.

I selected Storage clear data.  A dialogue box appeared "All of this application's data will be deleted permanently.  This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc."  I chose Delete.  S Planner Storage Data read 0.00B and Cache read 0.00B.  S Planner Storage Total is 11.56MB & S Planner Storage Application is 11.56MB.

I opened the S Planner app and can still see calendar entries for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022

I also tried the recommended fix for Google Calendar.  Even though I had disabled synching between the two applications.  So I followed your steps i.e. applications > applications manager > all apps > Calendar > clear data AND clear cache.

I selected Storage clear data.  A dialogue box appeared "All of this application's data will be deleted permanently.  This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc."  I chose Delete.  Calendar Storage Data read 0.00B and Cache read 0.00B.  Calendar Storage Total is 76.69MB & Calendar Storage Application is 76.69MB.

I opened the S Planner app and can still see calendar entries for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.  I opened Google calendar app and can find entries for 2022 going back from 30 Apr 2022.

Note that I had removed the SIM card from the the device some time ago.  I had also turned off Wi-Fi and mobile data in May 2022.

I can't understand why calendar items are still visible on the device despite the message "All of this application's data will be deleted permanently.  This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc."

Thanks for any assistance you can provide regarding this

Hey @TEZZALEX, thanks for detailing your attempts so far.

My next suggestions would be deleting (and reinstalling the app) to see if this is the result of the app holding old events synced.

Final suggestion would be a factory reset of your device. To do this:

Settings > Reset > Factory Data reset. This will remove everything from your device.

Hi SamsungLaura,

I was unable to remove S Planner as it is a Galaxy app so I did a Factory Data Reset.

Thanks for your assistance.
