I have WhatsApp installed on my S23 secure folder and now want to instead use it on my phone (outside of secure folder). I have uninstalled WhatsApp from secure folder, installed to my phone and logged in. However I am unable to transfer my chat history. It seems that the only way to do this requires that i use my 'new phone' to scan the QR code from my 'old phone'. However, this is not possible because they are bothe THE SAME PHONE. So unless I can remove the camera from my phone to take a photo of of the QR code displayed on my phone, this is not possible.
Any suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated.

Can you back it up to google drive. Then restore?
You'll have to log into your Google account inside the secure folder and back up first.
And yeah that's the idea with a secure folder. It keeps things separate from the outside. If they were linked, it would be a moot point to be secure in the first place.
Another alternative is to use a back up phone and transfer whataspp that way, before transferring back to your main phone.
