No sound on receiving text messages?

When I get a text message I don't get any notification or sound from the incoming text.

Is your notification volume turned up?
Not on mute?
Notification sound selected?
Restarted phone?

When you go to Settings and choose Search, then enter Notifications, one of the menu items is a list of notifications, search for messages, open and change settings. Then restart.
