Galaxy SHi, I have come across an issue on 5 seperate phones (A52, A53, S22 - all Android 14, S23 FE and XCover 6 Pro - both Android 13) where I have been using Google Messages as the messaging app.
When a call goes to voicemail and leaves a message, I get a notification on the phone and a new message in the Google Messages app. I can call voicemail from within messages, listen to it and delete it. However the issue is, that any further calls to voicemail do NOT receive any message notifications on the phone. If I open Google Messages I can see a new message there though.
I need to delete the message/ conversation history for the voicemail notifications, then the next voicemail DOES give a notification, but then no more after that until deleting the history again.
I have tried using both Samsung and Google phone apps, same issue.
If I change to using the Samsung Message app, everything works perfectly fine.
I assume the issue is with the Google Messages app, however advice I got from the Google forum is that it sounds like a Samsung issue?? Apparently it’s the phone dialler app that is responsible for voicemail notifications rather than the messaging app. Just seems strange that the issue only occurs when using Google Messages as the default app.
As this is happening on 5 x different phones for me, has anyone else seen the same problem?

Galaxy SThanks for the reply, was beginning think think it was only me!
Seems like a pretty common use case, surprised a lot more people aren’t complaining about it

Galaxy SThanks for the reply, two of the phones I tested on were Android 13 so not sure about the OneUI update, but this morning I have tried again and now can’t fail it which is both good, and frustrating, as I was about to write up a report for work on some other testing I was doing where this was a major issue.
Where are you located and what carrier are you using? I’m in Australia and on Optus.
