Notification Icon missing

Unsure as to why but it seems I am no longer getting any notification icons in the status bar once a notification has come through. The notication sound still sounds but, no icon is displayed. But ... if i swipe down from the top of the screen, i can see my recent notifications along with the content of the notification. Weird thing is, I haven't changed anything in the settings so i am confused as to why it is like this suddenly. Id like to go back to how it was. 

I hope what I have said makes sence and someone is able to help me fix this.

Settings > Notifications > Status Bar

Check if Icons is checked.

Another option:
Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb > Hide notifications
And make sure those I pointed are disabled.

Have done all of what you suggested. Now i wait for a notification to come through in hope it fixes the issue.

Its all thanks to you my friend. 😉 Seems to have done the trick. Still unsure as to how it had changed in the first place. Hmmm. 🤔
