A few months ago my base S21 developed a screen problem dubbed 'Green tint' where it makes the screen seem extremely grainy and unevenly lit when viewing grey backgrounds. It is extremely frustrating and cannot be ignored once it is first noticed.

According to a small amount of research, this problem is exclusive to OLED screens and occurs when pixels are incorrectly calibrated, as each pixel on OLED screens are individually lit. Apparently, the only fix is to replace the screen which I am reluctant to do.

I contacted Samsung support, and they basically only told me to software update or factory reset, either of which won't change anything because I believe this is a hardware problem.

I don't know what to do to solve this issue. The nearest Samsung store is a few hours from me and I don't have a backup phone to use if this was to undergo inspection/screen replacement, nor the funds. It's extremely frustrating to have bought a (previously) flagship phone and for an issue like this to develop less than a year since I purchased it.

Does anyone share the same problem and have any recommendations?

Thanks

To note: this issue is very visible on grey backgrounds, such as non-OLED optimised dark themes. The only temporary solution I have found, for whatever reason, is switching from 120hz to 60hz on affected apps via bixby routines, as the screen flickers when it changes refresh rate and, seemingly, after this happens the problem is less visible. Also, this problem is extenuated by the use of the eye comfort mode.

Hi, thanks for the response. I know that this is the way to go, but as I described in the post, I cannot go without the phone for long as I don't have a backup one which I need, which is why I am reluctant to do this.
