Green lines in displays are the effect of tiny wires loosing solder (getting disconnected) due to overheating - using the display at high temperature, gaming while charging, etc. This can also hapen to LED TVs and game consoles. Just keep your phone cool to a little warm.
My colleague uses an iPhone and he always put his phone in front of the air conditioning unit whenever he's installing an update because it's overheating, he said. I didn't get it back then until I updated my Note20 Ultra 5G to OneUI 5.1. Now I don't download or install UI and big game updates unless I'm in a cool room.
I still don't know why Samsung won't give free screen replacements to everyone who had these issues regardless of phone model after updating UI. There's no warning on the box, it's not on their official website or Samsung tips app, and they didn't provide any established, specific guidelines on how to install updates safely, too.
My galaxy S4 and S7 Edge could become a lot hotter than my Note20 Ultra but those didn't have this issue so I was really shocked and I still wonder how could such a thing hapen to my relatively much cooler device.
Update: Oh I guess I could barely notice overheating on the outside of newer phones because of cooling mechanism (I'm not sure how it works exactly). And the chargers nowadays are faster, the batteries are bigger, the processors are faster, the screens are brighter and the refresh rates are higher than those of the older phones - those could be contributors to this overheating,
That would be impossible. If a software update triggered it, then all users should get the same problem since we all received the same software updates.
Definitely not all but more like random units. Obviously, when something goes wrong, you'll want to trace back as to what was the last thing that was done. There are a couple of reports regarding such issuebut we can't expect Samsung to admit that it was their fault.
