Hi. I recently move to Australia and would like to use Samsung Pay. I bought my phone from the Philippines. I have read that some phones bought on specific regions would not support Samsung Pay. Is there a way to change the country/location like in google play? Does that mean I have to buy a new phone?

Thanks!

For regional settings see if Googling "Samsung phone unlock rrgional settings" and see if that helps. However you may also have compatability problems with your model vs the Sustralian model. You will need to ecplore the Samsung Australia site to identify the Aistralian model specd e.g. try searching within that site for "phone (type) specs". If you don't know your model open Settings, scroll to About, then explore for model within software model. A bit more Google searching by model number and you can then compare the two. Unfortunstely Ssmsung Australia will not provide support or warranty. Note there are a large number of grey market phones in Australia both those bought from overseas and those bought from non-approved tetail sellers e.g. Kogan amongst others. A particular problem is 5G as Australia has approved a little used frrequency as one of the 5G offerings.

Are you encountering any error? Like when you trying to add your AU cards in Samsung Pay? Or you are encountering the error in paying using Samsung Pay itself?

I don't think there will be an issue using your international device anywhere you go (those country that have Samsung Pay). Else all tourists that uses Samsung Pay will need a new phone every time they go here. 😁

As long as the store supports NFC payment, your phone can install Samsung Pay, you can add your card there, you're good to go.

EDIT: Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.😁

I cannot even open the app. It says "your phone is not supported." Then i read in a thread that some phones manufactured/sold in some regions does not support samsung pay.

I just checked, Philippines is not yet supported by Samsung Pay that's why.

If your origin phone is supported and you can install and use Samsung Pay before, then go to another country that also support Samsung Pay, then there's no issue.

You're best option is to change the CSC of your phone, you can google how to but it requires a little bit of technical knowledge and have some risks. Or as you said, use Google Pay/Wallet for now.
