Samsung S20 white screen - common issues?

Help! Just wondering if white screen of death is a common issue among S20 or other Samsung phones? I saw a few threads with the same issue. Any solutions to resolve it? I visited Samsung service center at Vivo and was told that the cost to replace the screen is $280. Honestly, I am very disappointed with the quality of this phone. My phone is only 1.5 yrs old and without any damage. It started flickering suddenly and become unusable. Apparantly, the cost to replace the display of a S20 is the same as Samsung's trade in value for the same phone - $300. Can't help feeling being penalized by the brand sub par quality product. The customer representatives ain't very empathising either.

I had been a long standing customer of Samsung. I own a S2, S4, S7 (still working btw), tab 5e, tab 7, buds, active 2 watch, monitor, but this incident becomes a breaking point for me. The cost to repurchase a phone is not cheap and most telco only allow replacement every 2 years. Would like to check if the community have any recommendations of other phone brand that are more durable? Or what should I do now?

Does the issue occurs at a certain brightness level?

Hello! Think you replied on another thread as well. Anyway, let's chat here in case this is useful for other users with the same issue. I didn't take note of the brightness level. But I tried turning off the adaptive brightness and changed the display to normal mode previously. But it doesn't help..
Any idea if the brightness affect the screen?

BTW, I read that flickering could be cause by Samsung software updates and they seems to be rolling new updates to other phone models recently. My last update was in Nov thou. Any chance it may help or whether software updates really affect screen performance?

I recently did an update as well and now I am experiencing that same flickering white screen. 

Samsung, there's no way everyone is starting to experience the same issue after recent updates. You better not be pulling an Apple on us!

Hello! I'm sorry to hear about your experience with your S20. There seems to be some discussion on other web platforms about this particular issue as well.

From what I've gathered, you may want to try the following things:

1) Plug your S20 into your computer to backup any important files (since you are not able to access anything via your S20 given the white screen).

2) Do a soft reset by pressing down on and holding both the power button and the volume down button for about 10 seconds. This will induce a soft reset on your phone.

If this doesn't work, Samsung's moderators on this Members platform do respond to such requests for assistance very regularly.

Thanks for the advise! Tried doing the soft reset and factory reset but the flickering comes back after a while.. Quite sad cuz the phone was a gift hence it holds sentimental value as well! Keeping finger cross.

That is unfortunate indeed. From some of the experiences I've read that others have had, their screen issue ceased after multiple soft resets. I hope it will be the case for you too!

Even my 1.5-year-old S20 ended with white screen/WSOD,

but when I asked Samsung Service center, Indiranagar Bengaluru, India.

They simply said there is damage to body bla bla... and lame reasons. And advised me to replace the scree for Rs.15700.  

Later droped the plan because the replacement display only have 6 months warranty.

But recently suddenly again it started with normal screen, died soon with WSOD.

So lost hope on samsung, moved to "Oneplus"

So hoping soon Samsung should end up like Motorola

I have the same issue with my brother's phone first theres a flickering thing on the screen then suddenly white screen appeared we tried ALL the suggested ways in google/YouTube we even factory reset it  4x  still the flickering and white screen hasn't fix. So what will happen now Samsung??
