Just got the Z fold 6 and scanned my fingerprint.

Cannot unlock the phone with my fingerprint.

Keep on getting the message that it stopped working and I need to reboot the phone. After every reboot, same message and it still doesn't work? Read the manual and followed exact instructions but still no luck?

Most useless fingerprint scanner.

Can Samsung just please provide a sensor area on the screen like my old Galaxy Note 20 Ultra which worked every time?

Try testing it in Phone Diagnostic.

You can also go to Settings > App > beside your apps, click the dropdown > enable Show system app > select Biometrics > Storage > Clear cache

If still the same error, repeat the steps, but try Clear data instead.

Thanks. I tired diag and it just mentions that it is not working and to reboot the phone. It advises that if this does not work to contact Samsung. Cleared the Biometrics Cache, then data and it still does not work. Tried diag after this and still the same message. Phone brand new out of the box and I was only able to scan my fingerprint once and unlock once after much trying. Not impressed as I now need to constantly type in a code since I don't even want to try face recognition option out of fear that it will fully mess up the phone. For now just going back to my previous phone until Samsung can sort these issues or we are able to fi d a quick solution via this forum. I will give it 2 weeks and if Samsung has not sorted it out, I will just return the phone and cancel all plans. Maybe time to look at another phone brand and avoid Android all together? Pitty as I have always used high end Samsung models like every model of their Notes range, but it looks like the Fold is a flop if this basic security functionality fails out of the box!

Looks like a hardware issue then on your phone. If it's new, better ask for replacement or return if you prefer on-screen fingerprint.

You can try performing factory reset your phone and see if it will be fixed by that. But that will be a hassle to set up your phone again (backup, restore, etc) ☹️

Sorry, I have been off-line as I took the phone to Samsung and they confirmed that it was a hardware issue. Have a new phone. Let's see how it goes after I have set up. Will provide an update.

Same issue hit me after 3 months of usage..did many reboots and also the factory reset but same issue .  never expected this on a costly phone. Will I get a replacement as it is only 3 months of purchase..

Z fold 6 has the sensor at power buton for registering fingerprint and also for using it. Do not expect to be similar to other samsung phones like S models.
