Have Your SayAre you sure that this is really an app issue, and not a battery management problem?
Did you already try to adjust the power and sleep settings for reminder and todo apps?
It could be being put to temporary sleep, preventing background sync until you actively open the app. Happens to me with cloud sync apps for google drive and one drive, and requires changing these settings for them to work all the time with no gaps.
