Home AppliancesHi folks,
Recently moved into a new house which has AR09FSSSCWKN AC units fitted. They have WiFi modules, and I can successfully put them into AP mode.
When I put them into AP mode, I can see a WiFi network "SMARTAIRCON", and I can optionally connect to it using 1111122222 as the password.
I am running Android 9 on a Cosmo Communicator, and I have tried apps:
- SmartThings
- Smart Air Conditioner
SmartThings does NOT detect the AC even if I put it into AC mode and connect to its AP manually, and does not list the model in its list of available ACs.
Smart Air Conditioner initially shows a picture of a satellite with a sad sleeping face saying "try again" and giving me some games to play whilst I wait. Eventually, through some process, I can eventually get through to the menu where it allows me to select "Network Setting". I put the AC into AP mode and then Smart Air Conditioner sees the AC, allows me to select my preferred network, requests the password for that network, then sits there for a minute or so before timing out saying there was an error.
My WiFi network is using WPA2 AES encryption, and I've tried both 20/40MHz and 20MHz modes on my 2.4GHz band. I keep getting, "There is a service connection problem".
What am I missing?

Home AppliancesHi @ADFHogan, going by the list of compatible air conditioner models below, it appears that the unit in your home is not compatible with Smart Things.

Home AppliancesThanks for checking compatibility for me, @SamsungLaura. I have now focused on the "Smart Air Conditioner" app suggested in the documentation, but I am having problems with it. I will launch a separate thread now that I know which app to use.

Home AppliancesIn a previous post, I was advised that the air conditioner in my new house is an older model which is not supported by the SmartThings app. I have subsequently gone and focused on trying to use the application that specified in the manual, the Samsung "Smart Air Conditioner" app.
The previous thread confirming that SmartThings is not supported, hence me using the Smart Air Conditioner app.
https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/home-appliances/which-app-to-use-with-quot-the-triangle-quot-ar0...
The AC unit is not a cassette unit, so my understanding is I use this app and not the "CAC" version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.rac
Steps attempted:
- Launch the Samsung Smart Air Conditioner app
- Select "Network Setting"
- I press "2nd F" and then "WiFi" on my remote
- Wait for "AP" to flash on the unit
- Select "Setting Start" on the Samsung Smart Air Conditioner app
- See "Connecting" in the app with an option to Cancel, with the wave effect
- A list of networks is shown (I have both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, I have tried both, all use WPA2 AES encryption)
- I select one of my networks, and provide the network key
- I see "Network setting" with the wave effect again
- After a period of time, I see "Transfer failed. There is a service connection problem"
Questions:
- Does anyone have any ideas what I should be debugging with regards to the "service connection problem"?
- Are there any more modern apps or third party integrations that work with "The Triangle" AR09FSSSCWKNA?
- Is this smart functionality still active?

Home AppliancesI'm still unable to pair my "The Triangle" ACs to my phone using the "Samsung Smart Air Conditioner" app.

Home AppliancesHi @ADFHogan, bringing the app to our attention. I am unsure of why you are unable to connect your AC to the Smart Air Conditioner app.
I suggest sending an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated by our research and development team. Error reports assist with identifying any deviations in your device performance. Once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further steps.
To send an error report:
Samsung Members app > Get help > Error reports > Application > Describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘Send system log data’ > ‘Send’ in top right.

Home AppliancesHi ADFHogan
I have the same air conditioners and an earlier model AQV09TWSN. The app you have linked to is correct, but Samsung have abandoned support for it on newer Android realeases. The app fails to work on the Galaxy S21 and S23, if it won't work on their own phones I think we can say they have given up support for it.
Unless Samsung decide to revisit support for these older air conditioner models I feel we are out of luck. I honestly did not think the actual air conditioner would last longer than the software but here we go, It will make me reconsider buying app based devices in the future if companies like Samsung walk away from customers when they get bored of supporting them.
