Hi all,

Has anyone managed to disable camera post-processing/photo "enhancement" which samsung automatically does? Or at least recover the original photos captured?

This past month I purchased a Galaxy S23 ultra and every time I capture am image in 50mp or 200mp, Samsung automatically post-processes the image.

I was disappointed to see the photo I thought I had captured of my newborn neice ended up being different in the gallery after a couple of minutes.

Different being, oversaturated, highly contrasted and just not realistic. I cannot find a way to recover/revert to the original image. These are in my opinion, memories destroyed.

It's unfortunate. This feature severely degrades photos with no aesthetic enhancement. There aren't many contexts, (maybe inanimate objects in dull environments) which this feature works. Not even sunsets.

I've tried contacting Samsung directly for help, with no response. So am turning to the community.

Appreciate any insight.

Go to camera setting. There is option you can look at. Able or disable option. Other applications you can look at. It is call Tips. There is plenty of information you can find there

Other way you can do is locate camera. The look for storage then clear cache and storage. Once you switch on camera you will new range of option you have to redo again. Complex but Tips applications is can guide you through. Heap of information there SmartSelect_20230923_062645_Settings_1000029326_1695407206.jpgSmartSelect_20230923_062702_Settings_1000029327_1695407222.jpg

Hi Inspired Chef, thank you for your tips. I should've mentioned I researched online before writing this post also.

I have already done the steps you've mentioned including downloading camera assistant and have been tinkering the past couple of weeks to be a bit more forgiving with the camera.

Also altering camera speed options within the camera assistant app does not remedy my issue.

I'm sure you know very well what I'm talking about given your knowledge above but this is the specified feature I'm talking about.

Before this notification the captured image is true to actual environment and after it's over saturated oranges and red levels. Screenshot_20230923_115356_Gallery.jpg

Hi there, thanks for your input!

The tips mentioned above I have tried prior to writing this (should've mentioned the steps I've already taken sorry) even tried altering camera speed option via the additional camera assistant app

Remastering images further oversaturates orange and red tones in faces

It's not sustainable having to edit the specific red and orange balances in every photo with an external app

Hoping for an update that allows users to opt out of the feature.

Have checked reddit and others are not impressed either after buying such an expensive phone - seems they've exhausted all their options too

Hi there, you may start by checking if you have any filters on. It's top right option in the camera app. Also, you can turn off scene optimiser in camera settings. See if that helps

Hi Amrit, thanks for the advice!

Filters have always been off and scene optimiser was one of the first things I turned off in attempt to remedy this

Unfortunately it doesn't stop the auto picture refining.Screenshot_20230923_115356_Gallery.jpg

Con you confirm what mode are you using? If it's standard 3:4 or 50mp or 200mp. Because the processing doesn't take that long as screenshot is showing. It hardly takes 1-2 seconds in normal mode. Another thing you can try, just clear data of the camera app if you haven't tried that already.
