I recently bought a Portable SSD T5, Model No. MU-PA1TOB/WW for use with my 2017 iMac (OS is Monterey, version 12.4). However, it doesn't register when I plug it into the computer. Can anyone please advise whether or not this device is compatible with my system and, if so, how to activate?   Many thanks.

It should just work.
Can you locate the drive using Disk Utility?

You can try installing the Mac software that Samsung has on it's website, and see if that helps.

I also thought it would just work, but no — and I can't locate it using Disk Utility.  Will try your Mac software link.  Many thanks.  :)

Have now downloaded the Mac software you suggested.  However, I get a message saying the download is an XML file and can't be opened because there is no available data view (XSLT).  Is there any way around that?

That's rather strange.
I just tried it and it downloaded a zip file.

Yes, I'm sorry, I put that badly.  What I downloaded was also a zip file but when I clicked on 'Open' the system kept wanting to use Word (I have Microsoft for Mac) but then gave me the message I've indicated.  I tried 'Open with', but that simply confirmed the default was Word; the only other options it gave me were: Chrome, Excel, Notes, Safari, Text Edit, App Store and 'Other'.  The latter took me into my Applications folder, but of the active options there, the only one which seemed like it might be applicable was 'Utilities' but I could see nothing active in that folder which looked like it would do the trick!  :(   :)
