Screen change?

My homesreen decided it would change the size of those application buttons that show on my homescreen including settings, camera, gallery and google photos.

It has a border thats semi transparent on bottom of page and its moved the 3 function keys from the middle to the right hand side 

And anything you open now only shows content on a smaller page than initial page opened and then layer upon layer , none can made larger,some don't have shut options. 

If there is anyone who knows what to do to fix this problem I'd be eternally grateful

Start with pressing for a few seconda on a blank area on your home screen, then choose 'home screen settings' and play with those. Next see if you have your user manual already loaded, if not, access it via Google e.g. search for "samsung s.. user manual". Skim read, if you identify any area of interest note it down on paper. Then use YouTube search the issue and watch videos, if necessary also Google the same issue. You just need a little persistence and a calm approach.

Sound like you have easy mode turned on

Search for Samsung easy mode and you'll find the page i have screen captured
