Vacation mode is designed to reduce the power usage when you go on holiday for longer periods of time. If your fridge has Vacation Mode, turning it on will keep the freezer running normally, but will keep the temperature of the other compartments at 15 °C.

Fridge Models that are likely to have Vacation Mode:
Please be advised that NOT all refrigerators have the vacation mode function. To check the design and features specific to your refrigerator, please refer to your user manual.
Side by Side and French Door Samsung refrigerators are the most likely to have the Vacation Mode functionality. The easiest way to tell if your fridge has Vacation mode is to check the control panel (if any) for a Vacation button. Fridges without a display or control panel will not be able to utilise Vacation mode.
If you're going away but your fridge does not have Vacation Mode:
- Close the water valve to make sure you won't come home to water leaks
- Remove all food and ice from the fridge
- Unplug the refrigerator from the power supply
- Wipe excess moisture from inside and leave the doors open, to prevent mould or odour.
Note:
15°C is not cool enough to be considered a safe temperature for storing food while you're away. Between 5 °C and 60 °C there is the potential for bacteria to multiply. If you're only going away for a couple of days, consider leaving the fridge at the normal temperature. Vacation mode is designed reduce the power usage while you're away for periods of time longer than 3 weeks (ie. longer than the shelf life of most food inside the fridge). Turning on Vacation Mode:
If the control panel on your fridge has a Vacation button, press it once to turn Vacation Mode on, or off.
If the control panel on your fridge has a Child Lock button, press and hold this button to enable or disable Vacation Mode.
