I purchased this model in May and since first installing the TV have noticed consistent performance issues which appear to be tied to the OS. I haven't reported this problem in a forum like this until now because I turned on error reporting and was hoping that Samsung might eventually get around to a firmware update that addresses these issues.

I have experienced the following on a fairly consistent basis:

1. Slow, or completely unresponsive OS that repeatedly crashes without out warning, oftentimes within seconds of turning on the TV. It can happen when navigating the menu options or sometimes even after some time of smooth operation, by simply adjusting the volume.

2. The TV frequently freezing and rebooting when using streaming services such as Netflix, Youtube or AppleTV. This could happen anywhere from seconds into streaming or an hour, but making it to the end of a programme uninterrupted is uncommon.

3. The TV freezing and rebooting when viewing media from a USB device. This seems to happen less frequently than when streaming from the internet, but the same behaviour is observed.

4. Frequent 'malware' attacks that lock up the television, sometimes displaying hundreds of messages for minutes at a time.

5. The TV simply turning itself off and restarting without warning (usually observed when the TV is being used as a display for other hardware such as a PC or gaming console.)

Sometimes these issues become so pronounced that the OS seems to perform a factory reset on itself and I am presented with the welcome screen, having to reinstall the apps, updates, etc. The last time this occurred, I opted to leave the TV disconnected from the internet, just to see what would happen. Since the TV is mainly used as a screen for hardware devices, this is not such an issue.

It seems to have resolved the issues with the laggy OS and much of the crashing and obviously the malware attacks, however issue 5 still persists. In any case I would prefer it if the smart functions on this TV worked as advertised.

Perhaps there is a firmware solution that will resolve these problems, if there is I am happy to work with a technician to see what might help.

All the best,

JP

Hi ELM-JP_Bizdev, thank you for your detailed feedback. I suggest trying a cold reboot of your TV by powering off and unplugging the device for approximately 1 minute.

If this does not resolve the issue, please send through a direct message with your name, number, TV model and serial number so that I can investigate this further.
