I am currently using the SmartTag+ and the primary concern is that my tags become entirely nonfunctional without an internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular). I'm curious to know if the second generation of these tags will operate even without an internet connection. In other words, can I make Galaxy SmartTag 2 ring when I don't have access to the internet?
The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is useless without an active data/internet connection. With SmartThings, the application you use to access the tag you need to have it connected to internet services.
I bought two of these to track my cats thinking I could get an upgrade to my Tile devices. They stopped working as soon as I left town.
Save your money, buy Tile or another device and you will be happier. I wish I could return mine as this was NOT mentioned in any advertisements or reviews that I looked at. I even upgraded my Samsung phone to use UWB.
