WearablesI cannot belive that this is the case... Why can't Samsung's Backup and Restore software for Galaxy Wear actually do a full backup and restore?
I just moved to a new handset (S22 Ultra) and my Galaxy Watch 4 has no lost almost all the customisations that I had spent months getting just right.
There's at least two options here:
1. Don't require the watch to be reset to move to a new phone. I should just be able to unpair the watch, then pair it with a new phone handset. There shouldn't be a need to reset my watch back to factory defaults.
2. If you can't make the first option work (and I genuinely cannot see any reason why), the next best thing would be to actually backup all the data from the watch and be able to restore all the data back after pairing to a new phone. All the data includes all the apps you have installed and their settings.
Even the inbuilt workout app lost the dat when I did a restore. The default workoput app shows walking, runningand cycling as the default shortcuts. I had changed mine. This is a preloaded app and the backup and restore couldn't even do this.
The loss of data is unacepptable and is not fit for purpose. People change phones all the time for a variety of reasons, and shouldn't need to factory reset their phone and lose all their customistaions.

WearablesHi there, thanks for your detailed feedback. Are you able to send this through as an error report via Galaxy Wearable so that we can look further into this?
To send an error report for a wearable, follow these steps:
- Go to Galaxy Wearables app > click on the device desired on the side menu
- In the side menu, tap Contact us > Error reports (in the Get help section)
- Fill in details and the frequency of the issue that you have with the wearable.
- Click send.

WearablesI can submit it via error reports... but surely Samsung need to address this. My understanding from others is that this has been an ongoing problem with Samsung Galaxy watches since the S2.
Why is there no Smart Switch software for the Galaxy Watch?

WearablesI have just had the same experience so obviously not fixed. Just wiped my watch and then failed to restore. With no further option to try again.
Total rubbish waste of my time.

WearablesMay 2023 and we are still stuck with Samsung being unable to properly back up and restore the Galaxy Watch settings and configurations. I'm not sure what was actually restored (if anything), because after the reset, all my apps were gone, my watchface was gone and the tiles went back to their standard configuration. So all in all, the backup- and restore functionality is utterly useless. Glad I'm moving away from Samsung. Unfortunately it meant that I had to set up my watch again in order to link it to my new Google Pixel phone. Oh well, when I have to choose a new watch in future, it will definitely not be a Samsung.

WearablesI left samsung phones a while back. The ONLY reason I have the watch is because it was a gift from my wife.

WearablesJust confirming the utter waste of time I had had moving to a new phone. Followed the KB article to the letter, no errors, backup said ok, nothing restored (face/settings/apps (do not even know everything that is missing yet because cannot look on old phone as no watch connected now).
This is BASIC STUFF to be able to backup AND RESTORE, why have the option if it does not do anything?

WearablesProblem for me also. Backup appeared to work fine, no warnings. Wiped my watch. New phone connected, tried to restore from backup, it launched and then showed 100% failure to restore anything. WHERE ARE THE WATCH FACES I PURCHSED?
