I used to upgrade my Samsung phone every 2 years or when it's broken. But I noticed technology has slowed down, so I'm planning to upgrade my phone every 3rd year. My current phone is the Galaxy S21 Ultra, great phone but it can overheat sometimes.

What's your opinion?

Hopefully it's a good upgrade from my S21 ultra, which is almost a perfect phone for me.

It is good to buy a Samsung phone during pre-order time with trade-in as u might only be paying $200 or $300 max. I moved from the s22 ultra to fold for due to heating issues on the s22 ultra and got full money back which I paid for the s22 ultra via trade-in deals. Same thing I did when I moved from the s21 ultra to the s22 ultra. Never paid more than $300 on a new phone even after using it for 1 whole year.

True, even I'm not too excited with the fold series right now.

Samsung don't care for Australian market as it's small compared to America

It's a tough choice on how often to upgrade. Really depends on budget and what you want to get out of a phone. These days they are really biting into the work laptop space moving into productivity tools. In a previous job, I rarely used my laptop and was mostly working from my phone (s20 ultra). I find I vary between 2-3 years as mostly because the telstra plans I was on were 2 years so would upgrade between 2-3 years. These days I use byo plans so have more flexibility to upgrade when I need (or in some cases want 😁). If you weren't buying ultras, maybe 2 years might do it but with beefed up ultras, 3 years might fit the bill but again depends on the need. I take a lot of pics with mine (S20 ultra) so always looking for upgrades in the camera space and all the neat functions it comes with.
