After updating my Galaxy A53 5G to One UI 5.1, I immediately noticed a number of changes that ruin the aesthetic of my colour palette and overall make for a worse user experience:
  • The volume bar is now greyscale instead of reflecting my colour palette like in 5.0.
  • All the notification icons are now the same colour, which is less accessible and just looks worse in my opinion.
  • Certain features that used to reflect my colour palette, such as the alarm wheel in the Samsung Clock app, appear to have reverted to the default blue, which is not part of the palette I selected.
I understand that some of these changes can be fixed by disabling colour palette entirely, but other than these issues I still enjoy the feature as a whole.

Whether these changes are bugs or intentional features, I really hope Samsung reverts them in the next implementation, or at least gives us greater freedom to choose which features are affected by the colour palette.

Hey @Devius

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. I suggest sending an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated by our research and development team. Error reports assist with identifying any deviations in your device performance. Once analyzed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further steps.

To send an error report:
Samsung Members app > Support > Error reports > select issue category > Describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘Send system log data’ > ‘Send’ in top right.

Kind Regards,

And the update released since I posted this changed nothing. Posted about it again but Samsung just told me to file another error report. Fortunately there are other brands out there with better UIs.

You're right. Their big promotion is what the new ui can do. But it doesn't really work at all.
