Hi everyone,

Me and my partner have an S21 ultra with Telstra and since the last update we haven't been able to see sent/read receipts on the default samsung messaging app.

This happened before with another update but eventually it fixed itself however, this time around it does not seem to be the case and we're wondering if it's on Telstra or Samsung's side.

We've tried making the google messaging app the default to see if that'd work but it still didn't, messages are still being sent as sms even though all the settings seem to be in place to be as chat...

As anyone has this problem as well?

So, we figured it out.... since it was working on data and not on wifi, we did the most infallible thing: turning the chat features off and on again I chat settings and what do you know, it worked! Leaving this posted so if anyone else has the same problem you know now (also just in case we forget the solution again lol).

After further testing I've discovered that we do get the receipts when we're both on data but not when we use wifi? Any idea why that is?

Hi @EEBJON, I am glad to hear that your issue has been resolved. If this happens again and resetting does not work, please send through an error report for this to be looked into further.

To send an error report:

Samsung Members > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘send system log data’ > Send in top right.

Same thing with me. Was working chat with Samsung built in text message and tap chat in settings and straightway I get a notification says failed!! I'm with Tel$tra too and my Samsung Galaxy S21 bought from JB Hi-fi outright. Not happy!!

Likewise on S10+. Somehow though my messages sent are sms/mms, but the contact shows that their messages sent to me are RCS, and I received the error for any mms previews

Hi @RKII, for RCS, both the sender and recipient must have RCS enabled.

If both are enabled, I suggest sending an error report within 2-3 minutes of the issue occurring for this to be investigated by our research and development team. Error reports assist with identifying any deviations in your device performance. Once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further steps.

To send an error report:
Samsung Members app > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > Describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘Send system log data’ > ‘Send’ in top right.
