Why do other Android phones have the option under NFC to "require device unlock for NFC" but Samsung phones don't have this option?

Please Samsung make this option available on your phones to increase the security of it so that if someone steals your phone or you lose it then they can't use the NFC to pay for things.

My Aus phones also require a pin or fingerprint to use Samsung Wallet (I don't use Google wallet).

The only payment I can make without unlocking the phone, is if I set up and use the Transport card feature, but I also don't use it, and it only works for tapping on/off public transport.

I think I should have made it clearer and said that with Google Pay you don't need to unlock the phone to tap and pay.

If you really need to use Google Wallet and needs security even for low amount purchases, you can try creating routines as a workaround. It's not a pretty solution, but it's working.

Example..

1. Turn off your NFC

2. Install Routines + from Good Lock (just needed if you want to trigger the routines via buttons or fingerprint)

3. Open Modes and Routines in your phone

4. Create 1st routine, trigger via Button action under Routines + > e.g. Double press volume up key

5. Then put 1st action > Open Google Wallet

6. Second action > Turn on NFC

7. Save

8. Create 2nd routine, trigger via Button action under Routines + > e.g. Double press volume down key

9. Then put Turn off NFC in action.

So every time you want to pay, just double press the up button (it will require you to unlock your phone), then once you are done, double press the down button.

Good luck I use Samsung wallet.
Like you I didn't like the wake up and use function I believe there is a setting for it to require you unlocking your phone and not just the screen. I do use it for tickets since you have to open the app to access the ticket.
Easiest option would be to just use the button to turn NFC off in the swipe down
Or to use the "pay with currently open app"

These is an option in Android. It's just for some reason hidden or it has been removed completely by Samsung for their phones.

Maybe they did to enable nearby share and quick share functions. And to be honest those are more important to me than google wallet.

Nearby sharing and quick sharing uses NFC? I thought it was just Bluetooth and / or wifi

Nah you have to have it on its faster than Bluetooth.
And you don't need to pair for it to work

So would it be correct in saying that samsung have removed this option and added it the lock feature into samsung wallet - which would seem like an attempt by samsung to force people to use their payment app. Not sure what google would make of this?
