Hello abigail,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with the recent updates on your Samsung Galaxy phone having issues with the missing option to search for emojis, and we apologize for the inconvenience it caused you.

I understand your frustration after several attempts to locate the option to search emojis as you normally do before an update but to no avail and if it happens to me, I will feel the same. But don't you worry; we are here to guide, assist, and offer solutions to restore you device's features so they work at optimum performance.

Before you try out the recommendations below, be sure to check if your device's software and related apps (Keyboard) are updated to the latest version. To update your mobile device's software, follow these steps:

Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.

Step 2. Tap on Download and install.

Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4. Restart your device.

In order to find out the root cause of the problem, you may submit an error report through the Samsung Members app as follows:

Step 1. Long press Samsung Members icon on Apps screen and tap Error reports.

Step 2. Tap OK on agreement popup to send system log data.

Step 3. Select Symptom category "Application".

Step 4. Describe the problem in details and SEND.

Use the toolbar on the keyboard

Just open any text messaging app, and follow the steps below to make your messages more fun and expressive.

For this example, navigate to Messages, and then tap New conversation. Enter or choose a recipient, and then tap the Enter message field to pull up the keyboard. The toolbar will automatically appear.

From the toolbar, you can choose between Emoji, Stickers, GIF, Voice Input, and Settings. Tap Expand toolbar (the three horizontal dots) to see even more options available on your phone.

Keyboard settings.

The great thing about the default Samsung keyboard is how customizable it is. You can change the language, layout, themes, size, feedback, and even add custom symbols.

From Settings, search for and select Samsung Keyboard. Tap Samsung Keyboard again, and then adjust your desired keyboard settings.

You can also access this page by tapping the Settings icon in the keyboard's toolbar.
