Hi all...I hope somebody can help me. I am not getting any notifications from my messages. Have checked all the settings and they're all apparently set correctly. No sound, no app icon, no nothing... very very frustrating... I hope someone can help

Hi @Wafflah, this issue with notifications could be due to various factors, such as server connection or different modes on your device. Here's a few suggestions of what you can do to solve this issue:

- Please ensure your messaging app and your device software is up to date.

- Battery optimisation settings could be on, which can lead to a longer sync time. You can toggle off this option for the specific apps in which you are having issues with. To do this:

           - Open Settings > Apps > ⋮ (in top right corner) >  Special access > Optimise battery usage.

           - Here, you can toggle off the apps which you are experiencing delayed notifications from.

- I would suggest checking if your apps are in deep sleep mode. To do this, go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits. Apps in sleeping and deep sleeping won't run in the background. If you would like to ensure notifications, I would recommend adding the specific apps to Never sleeping apps.

Hope this helps!

Hi Tina... unfortunately none of these things helped... it's really frustrating because I don't know when at all someone messages me... no sound alert, no app badge icon, yet all the message settings for notifications are on...

Hmmm, I would recommend resetting your general management settings. This will reset all settings and permissions, including for your messages. To do this:

- Go into Settings > General management > reset > Reset all settings.

Let us know if this resolves the issue.

Did anything work? I don't get sound notification for sms if I'm on the phone or when headphones are plugged in (which is 99% of the time) and the app badge doesn't show a number to visually notify me when I have messages. I've never had a phone which doesn't do these things! Nothing has worked to change this for me

Hi @firefighter44,

  1. Settings > Apps > ⋮ > Show system apps > Messages > Notifications
  2. Ensure that Notifications is turned ON.
  3. Ensure that App icon badges is set to ON.
  4. Ensure that numbers or contacts you want to get notifications from are turned ON.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and tap on More settings > Notifications.
  6. Ensure that Other notifications is ON.
  7. Under Advanced section, set up App icon badges, On lock screen, and Do not disturb custom exception are set up to your preference. Enabling App icon badges option means that you’ll get the numbers of unread messages on the Messaging app to show. We think this is what you’re missing.
  8. Restart the device and check if you receive notifications after these steps.

That's strange. Do you have any battery saving settings or 3rd party apps enabled that could be blocking the notifications?

Other troubleshooting suggestions:

1. Settings > App > Messages > Storage > Clear cache.

2. Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Settings
