Hello, I'm having a weird issue with my new A24 when using wired headphones.

I have a regular, TRS pair (no microphone) and since I got the phone it has had this problem. It happens with any sounds, but is most noticeable when listening to quiet music. Once the volume of the music drops below a certain level, there is a noticeable "pop" or cutout of silence. The volume then comes back, but this results in a continual cutting out and coming back as the music plays on. It's noticeable and very distracting.

The strange thing about it is that it's not related to the media volume level. The level below which a cutout happens is "absolute" - if you turn the phone volume up then the cutouts will not happen until the sound gets to a quieter part of the song. If you turn the phone volume down, then the cutouts happen even during loud parts of the song.

The problem happens with music apps playing local songs, YouTube, and even system notifications. It seems to happen with any sound that plays at all. The only app that doesn't trigger the issue, weirdly, is the radio.

Here's the thing - I only have this problem with headphones having TRS jacks, the ones with two black stripes on the plug. On TRRS headphones, with three black stripes and a microphone, the problem doesn't happen.

I have tried several sets of headphones and they all have this issue. I have tried my headphones on brand new A24 demo models in the shops, and they also show the same issue. My headphones work fine absolutely everywhere else.

On top of this, if I use a TRRS to TRS connector on the "working" headset (with a microphone,) then the problem also happens with them! And finally, I bought a TRS to TRRS plug and connected my non-working headphones to it, and then they work fine! I do still need to "jiggle" the plug of ease it in in a special way, but once done, the headphones work and there is no problem.

I have also tried:

- Enabling and disabling Dolby Atmos

- Turning off Google assistant

- Putting the plug in half way

But nothing works, besides the TRS to TRRS connector.

Does anyone else have this issue? Are Samsung aware of it and will there be any fix?

Thank you...

I´ve started to have the exact same issue on my S21 One UI 6.0 after the last update.

I´m using the same wired headphones as before. The issue is clearly in the software. REALLY ANNOYING!

SAMSUNG, Is there a special configuration OR is it possible to downgrade to One UI 5.0???

Thanks!

Perhaps I´ve discovered the issue.

I tested using an old Apple iPhone headphone (3.5mm jack) those white ones with volume + mic integrated and it worked as a charm.

No "wheezing", no audio cut when silence (e.g. when listening to podcasts)... it worked just like my other Sony earbuds (w/o volumn adj + mic) were working prior One UI update.

The sad part is that I really like my Sony earbuds. The sound quality is 10 times better then the Apple one...

Anyway, I´ll try to check how to disable microphone when connecting the headphones because it looks like the system is trying to activate a headset microphone that doesn´t exists therefore it may be using the phone´s mic.... my assumption is based on the fact that now, everytime I connect the headphone it austoarts the "Alexa" and "Google Assistant" voice activated Apps... strange.

Having a similar issue with my A15. I'm also only having the issue when a TRS cable is connected, the sound is fine when I connect my cheap TRRS earbuds. All my headphones and cables work perfectly on other devices.

I have tested plugging the TRRS headphones into an adapter with a TRS connection, and when this is plugged into to the phone the issue happens again, so it's certainly due to the jack type.

The exactly same problem -- audio stuttering at certain dynamic range when using 3.5 mm TRS cable on my new Galaxy A24. Samsung, fix this friggin' problem! I bought this phone because of the classic jack, and I can't use it!

Lots of the same reports about A15 btw, which is basically A24 in a different case.
