Hi

I'm using Note 9 and I really like it except when I use the camera in the dark place like under the bonnet of a car.

I am a mechanic and I take many photos of different parts of engine to show customer.

But the flash is not enough to get the right shot when the subject is 10cm behind the other part which is again behind the other one.

You can't select the subject on screen to focus because the screen is black (dark).

Please make the torch button available when taking a photo (not just flash).

If the torch can be turned ON when using camera, it will be much easier to get the right focus and the right exposure in the dark places.

I'll be waiting for the response.

Thank you.

Hi, thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately phone cameras cannot function at the same time as the torch, as the refraction of the torch light would over-expose the image. If you have updated your Note9 camera, you can try using Night Mode and seeing if this would help with the issue you're having.

Let us know if you have any other questions or feedback! :)

No it's not going to over expose the image. Torch does not shine the camera it shines the objects. What's the difference between using torch and using flash? 5 years ago that feature was on Sony phones so don't say 'Unfortunately' instead make it happen on next update Please.

Hi, the refraction would happen as the light for your phone is located in the same glass panel as your camera in the Note 9. If you were to use them both at the same time for a period of time, it would then over expose your image as the light would reflect off the glass into the camera.

I would recommend testing if Night Mode would assist with the visibility.

Thanks for the feedback however, it will be passed on internally.

Thanks for passing it on. And tell me if you see any reflection when filming video using the torch at the same time. Thanks
