Vertical green line after software update

A bright vertical green line suddenly appeared on my Note 20 Ultra screen after installing the latest software update. The phone has never been dropped or submerged in water. The line just appeared all of a sudden. The same thing happened to my S series phone early last year. Now I am seeing multiple posts in these forums this month reporting the very same issue. Searched the web and also found several reports from Samsung users over the world this month. What is up with these updates causing the green lines? Planned obsolescence? Force users to spend money for repair?

To the Samsung tech that's going to reply here, I already submitted the error report via the Samsung Members app.

Next question is, what is Samsung going to do to resolve this issue affecting possibly thousands of users without making them spend money for a clearly faulty update?

Hi, same issue here. S21 5G. Got an green vertical line. Tried restart/power off my phone but still the same. Can someone from accept that there is something wrong with their software update and what needs to be done? A patch maybe to fix this issue?

They definitely know it's an issue on their part but looks like they don't want to officially acknowledge it as this will cost them money. They had the screen replacement program for this issue last year. Huge disappointment that this issue is still happening on the new S series Galaxy devices and even more a huge disappointment that they refuse to acknowledge it as an issue on their end.

All they will do is refer you to an authorized service center knowing that the users will have to spend money for a screen replacement.

Definitely looking at other brands now. I have had the flagship Samsung S and Note series phones since the S8 and Samsung TVs, sound systems and home appliances. The S23 Ultra will be my last Samsung product all because they refuse to acknowledge a fault on their end.

if this is the case, i will jump over to bite that Apple if i ever encounter this after an update. and once i cross over to the Iphone's, i will not return, simple as that.

Hi Samsung i updated my note 20 ultra 5g and now green vertical line appeared on my screen . From the tbousands who complained about this, is Samsung not going to make a move as tjis is clearly a defect on your program/software. I have always been cautious with my gadgets as i give importance to the value of money spent to this ezpenaive gadget only ending up with problem which is absolutely beyond my control . I sincereky hope yoi do something about it.

Dear Samsung,

It has been a week since i have submitted the report of your authorized service ctr re my vertical green line experience of my Note 20 ultra 5g upon updating to the last software .Apparently i am not the only one who experienced this issue. Thiis is blatantly robbery in broad day light. I have escalated this to your CEO and was told that a case manager will handle my complain. To date, i haven't heard any update and was told by the service ctr that the head ofc is trying to reach out to me but to no avail which is but a lie. Been waiting for the call and once or twice i picked-up but call was immediately terminated at your end. If the service ctr and others cam get thru my lines, i tbink the problem is at your end. You have all my contact mos and my email but never got a single word from you. This is already frustrating and stressful as i have thrown a lot of email ff ups to no avail.
In cases like this, I felt cheated by your unsatisfactory handling of the situation considering we your consumers, bought your flagship fones in the belief that we will get our value for money. However, this issue seemed to stem from negligence at your end which resulted to damages on our part. I hopr you will sincerely handle our concerns as this is should be your corporate respinsibility-to make your customers satisfied pre and post sales.it's not just abt profiteering but by giving back what our hard earmed money deserves!!! I hope my request will be granted as well as those others who fell victim of your irresponsibility.

same issue.. vertical pink line after latest update. no apology or statement from Samsung at all. probably my last samsung phone.

I had the same problem with my Samsung Note 10,; the green vertical line appeared after the software update. I hope it's not a new sales-boosting plan from Samsung; it will backfire. customers don't buy from dishonest suppliers.
