Disappointing: S21 FE in Australia only supports one physical sim and no esim

I thought this was the 'Fan Edition' phone....

For some reason, only the Australian version of the S21 FE has only one physical sim slot, and no esim support, making it a $1,099 msrp phone with no dual sim functionality. Very disappointing from Samsung, why did they specifically cripple the Australia version? The SM-G990E in other countries have two physical sim slots.

Samsung also stays very quiet on this, releasing conflicting statements on whether the S21 FE doesn't have the esim hardware, or the phone has the hardware and it will be enabled in a future software update (and of course, the latest one 5.1 update still doesn't support esim, more than a YEAR after release).

The rest of the S21 series supports esim (S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra)

Even the S20 FE in Australia had two physical sim slots, so why did Samsung decide to not include it in the S21 FE?

I'm disappointed in the ph swap when u take extra cover out told no no offer like that at all even after reading out the info..... out come no more?Samsung phones next time let down

I've bought my S21U from Kogan. The HK version. It has SD CPU & physical dual sim slots. Same warranty period as if I'm buying something from an Aussie retailer like JB or Officeworks

Sadly, once Samsung Australia find out they refuse to provide support. Not that either their service or sales are any good - read other posts. I bought my phone, different model, via Kogan some years ago.

They’ll never tell the truth as to why. You get back at them by not buying the next model. Buy from a company offering what you want.

Unfortunately I have been caught out. I had to buy a dual sim for my 17 year old to travel overseas, I bought the S21FE after weeks of investigating what to buy, only to be told by my carrier that it is not compatible! An expensive paper weight! 🤬 Thanks a lot Samsung.
