Galaxy SHi there community
I'm having a problem with Google Messages on my S21. It's supposed to be working with RCS right? I've got it set as my default, and it says "Chat features enabled" in settings, but the chat features are actually not working. I don't get read receipts and can't long tap to react with emojis to messages. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there some setting I'm missing somewhere?
Thanks in advance for any tips
Jenny

Galaxy SHi @StepJen, as @Dolgogi has mentioned, RCS will need to be enabled for both sender and receiver to work. Are you aware if the recipients have the feature enabled?

Galaxy SThanks both @SamsungLaura and @Dolgogi. But the reason I know about this is precisely BECAUSE a lot of my friends have been "like"-ing my messages, so it's clear they have it (and I'm pretty sure some of them have Android phones), but I can't seem to be able to do it back. Since I posted this question, I've found out that I have ONE contact I can do it with, but they're the only one.

Galaxy SHi @StepJen, thanks for clarifying. I suggest reaching out to the app developer for further support on this feature as Samsung do not manage Google Messages. If possible, I suggest checking with your chat recipients that they are using Google Messages on their Android device as they could be using Samsung Messages or other apps.

Galaxy SThanks @SamsungLaura. I was afraid you'd say that, as I usually find Google "support" to be all but non-existent. So, are you saying that the RCS will only work if the other person is also using Google messages on an Android phone. If they're using RCS with any other app and/or OS, it won't work?

Galaxy SHi @StepJen, the RCS should work regardless of which app you are using however there may be compatibility issues or glitches that both sides are currently unaware of.
If you are unable to reach Google Messages for support, my next suggestion would be sending through an error report via the Samsung Members app to see if the issue lies with the device. These are best sent within 2-3 minutes of an issue occurring to increase the likelihood of an issue being picked up by the report.
To send an error report:
Samsung Members > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘send system log data’ > Send in top right.

Galaxy SHi @maruja54, that's strange. Is this something you've also checked with your network provider?
I suggest trying:
Tap and hold Messages app > App info > Storage > Clear cache
