I recently updated to One UI 3.1 on my Galaxy S10+ and noticed I no longer have the chat option in Samsung Messages. It was working previously using Telstra's RCS service. I've done a factory reset and restart, also installed Google Messages which use to be a trick to activate the option in Samsung Messages. My preferred messaging app is Samsung's stock app. Anyone had this issue and know how to fix it?

Hi again Jez70,

This issue has been reported to Google, but it is difficult to fix or change on Samsung's side. When Google resolves issue, we will update apk to this model immediately.

Please check again after taking each of the below steps.

1. Settings > Biometrics and security > Other security settings > Device admin apps > Find My Device > disable

2. Settings > Apps > Google play services > More option > Uninstall updates

3. Settings > Google > Select question mark in upper right corner (or more > Help & feedback) > more > View in Google Play Store > Update
(or Chrome > open google.com > Search 'Play Services' > Select 'Play Services' update page > Install

4. Settings> Application > Google Play Services > Storage > Manage Storage > Clear cache, clear all data

5. Settings > Biometrics and security > Other security settings > Device admin apps > Find My Device > enable

6. Reboot

These steps are temporary solutions until an update is released. Let me know if any of these help!

It was purchased directly from Samsung Australia but it was working OK previously before the recent update

Best recommendation is to use Google messaging app for rcs

I believe it comes down to carrier when using stock messaging app.

That's right. Samsung stock messaging uses Telstra's RCS carrier service which I'm aware is still active. I know the Google's messaging app uses its own separate RCS service

Let me ask around and find out if there will be an update on rcs for stock

Thanks. I know there is rumours about Samsung Messaging allowing you to eventually connect with Google's RCS service but I haven't seen any real evidence that this is happening
