Samsung Messages chat option not available

I recently updated to One UI 3.1 on my Galaxy S10+ and noticed I no longer have the chat option in Samsung Messages. It was working previously using Telstra's RCS service. I've done a factory reset and restart, also installed Google Messages which use to be a trick to activate the option in Samsung Messages. My preferred messaging app is Samsung's stock app. Anyone had this issue and know how to fix it?

Hi again Jeremy,

I just got a reply from our research team. They would like to know some more information so they can further test the issue. Are you able to send an error report via Samsung Members? To do this, go to:

Samsung Members > Get Help > Error Reports > Call/Message > Describe issue and frequency > Tick send system log data > You can attach screenshots of any pop ups you get when the issue happens (optional) > Send in top right corner.

Hi Laura I don't receive any pop ups or even know when the error occurs. There is just no option to choose chat settings in Samsung messaging after the update.

Good afternoon. That's alright, you can still send an error report without attaching a screenshot. You will receive a response from our Members team once they have assessed your log data.

Seems RCS (Chat) went live today.
After the April update (I'm assuming it's from that) I now have RCS working in Samsung Messages, and a work colleague also noted his is live today as well.

Hi just interested to know what phone you have? I haven't had another update yet since updating to One UI 3.1. Is it the Google RCS that some show is now integrated into Samsung Messages?

Yes, as I posted earlier, Samsung pledged to use Googles Universal Jibe RCS profile back in April 2020.
They started to roll it out in some countries in Decmber 2020.

And it looks like it's finally rolling out in Australia.
This is independent of the carriers.
