S21 Ultra 5G - Camera Not Focusing

Hey All,

Myself along with a few people who have had this issue on Reddit have found that the S21 Ultra's main 1x camera appears to not focus when opening the camera app normally, however, if you give the phone a gentle bump/knock on its edge it seems to work fine.

Is there any planned fix for this?

Things I have tried:

- Rebooting the device.

- Updating to the latest OneUI and Android variants.

- Updating all of my apps.

- Clearing cache at both an app and partition level.

- Wiping the device entirely.

- Switching cameras from 0.6x to 1x to 3x.

- Using Samsung Expert RAW.

Happy to provide a system log if needed.

I have the same problem

I had the same issue, three ways to resolve this:

1) Open the camera app and go to settings, then turn off "Tracking auto-focus" Don`t close the app. Now use the 1x zoom and it will be blurred, give the phone a hard tap on the right-hand side while the phone is in landscape mode. Close the app, then open it again and enable "Tracking auto-focus" again. That should do it, it seems the focus got stuck after a software upgrade.

2) Open your camera app and reset the camera settings. (Third last option) and then disable Scene optimiser (first settings option).

3) Shake the phone wildly for over 10 seconds on 1x zoom.

Hope this helps.

I love this phone and this issue was a pain to resolve, now it works perfect again.

Same problem with my S21 Ultra - 2 months ago focus on 1x zoom dissapeared. On 3x zoom and 0.6x zoom everything works fine. It seems, that this problem is wordwide, because many people complains on this, but Samsung is doint nothing to fix it?
