My S25 Ultra usually fails to sync with my Ford Ranger, and the car's screen gets stuck displaying the message: "SYNC is trying to initialize Android Auto. Please check device." The S25 has only connected successfully three times, but if I stop the car and turn off the engine, it loses connection and then shows the "SYNC is trying to initialize..." message again. My old phone, an S23 Ultra, worked without any issues in the same vehicle. Additionally, Android Auto on the S25 works correctly with our other car, a Subaru Impreza.

I have tried the following solutions:

  • Using a different USB cable
  • Adjusting every configuration setting in the Android Auto app
  • Deleting and re-adding accepted cars
  • Powering off and restarting the S25
  • Ensuring all permissions are turned on

I am out of ideas. The issue is intermittent, but it must be something with the new device as the old S23 worked correctly.

I have updated the Ford SYNC software to the latest version.

I have connected another S25 Ultra to the car and the same problem occurs.

I wonder if it's related to our new phones having an older version of Google Play Services.
Though it works on the Suby 🤔

I'm surprised Google hasn't done better in providing an update for that.

There are two versjons of android version, look up in Wikipedia. The version sold with your car is still supported, the version as an android app is not. So getting connection may be affected by the order you connect. This info is very old so other info may be more up to date.

Have you tried connecting your device through Bluetooth?

I am still having issues.
Thanks for the information. I have updated the software in the car but the same problem persists.

I have also contacted Ford support in Australia but haven't heard back yet (it's been two days now!)

I am having the same issue with my 2019 F150. I took it to the dealership (recall on the SYNC system) and they updated the truck. Bought my S25+ phone a week later and I get the same message he was getting. I took it back to the dealership tonight thinking the update didn't take in the truck and they were able to verify the update and had two different people hook up their Android Phones with no problems. I hooked up my wife's S24 when I got home with no issues. There is something funky with the S25+ and the SYNC System. My new phone works via Bluetooth and I can take calls but I can't use Wayz or any other apps on the SYNC screen through the USB port. I have tried ALL of the suggested troubleshooting suggestions and nothing has fixed the issue. I really hope there is a solution soon!!
