The issue
A few days ago my S9+ display went really dark, with the vibrant colours becoming dull. Right now the brightness is on full but its producing the same brightness it use to on half way.

When I move the brightness between 20-60% the brightness drops significantly and at around 70% it flickers. There are also horizontal black lines and sometimes a faint outline of the apps on my homepage.

What I've done so far
I've done everything so far except a factory reset. I soft restated it as soon as it happened, I shut it down, left it shut down, tried it in safe mode, ran a virus check, charged it up and even reset the settings on options.

The only thing that happened so far that helped was when I optimised the brightness on samsumg members which helped it until I left the app.

In the first 5 seconds of starting up, it also illuminated fully for a bit.

Summary
I have not dropped my phone, heated it, put it in water or done anything abnormal. I also do not put it dangerously high on brightness or overcharge it.

Its really hard to read and I can't see my screen on the lock screen or use always on display.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I dont even know if its a hardware or software problem.

Hmm that's odd, @jake4312. I would recommend sending an error report through our Samsung Members app so that our team can take a look a this issue remotely. To do so, please follow the steps here: https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/news-tips/sending-error-reports/m-p/9617204

Please make sure you keep the app open after pressing send, as it can take a while for log data to process and send.

If you have any issues with this, please let me know.

Hi again. How long does it usually take for the team to get back in terms of the error log.

Hi @jaekooo, we aim to get back to customers as soon as possible, however the response time can depend on the complexity of the issue and the volume of enquiries. We apologise for any inconveniences and thank you for your patience.

If there's anything we can help you with in the meantime, please let us know.

Same here. Same problem. I was on a Samsung chat group and told to do double tap and finger print to open . This helps with full normal screen appearance , BUT now can't see callers info when I get a phone call or see screen details, like green accept or red button to hang up with incoming calls. Was told by others it a Samsung software glitch. Waiting to hear back from the engineers.
