So, after Samsung announced it would roll out RCS, using Googles universal profile, in April 2020, it seemed to have finally started rolling out in a few countries mid December 2020....... but has it now stalled?

Please note, I'm not referring to Carrier RCS.

Samsung Australia has Google messages installed on the S21 series, and while that does work with RCS (naturally), I much prefer Samsung Messages.

So when will you release this for Australian customers?

I believe with Samsung Messages it will rely on the carrier for rcs. My understanding at this stage only available on telstra. I would suggest using the Google messaging app.

That was the case, but the carriers are useless.
While Telstra did actually make it available, unlike Optus who pledged to support it but didn't.

As I said, In December Samsung released an update that used Googles Universal RCS profile, in some regions.

I know I could use the google app, and I have tried it on my Tab S7+ & my S21U, but I prefer Samsung's app and am hoping they will enable it here.

There was a backdoor trick that worked, but it was slammed shut with android 11 😁

New one UI update would have closed it

Finally got it working.
Can only assume it's the April update, but it now works in Samsung Messages 👍

I just got the April update on my s10+ and now the chat function is working again but it only works for friends using Telstra's RCS server in Samsung Messages as I found out. No Google Jibe server integration as some claim is happening

Strange, because if you go to the about screen, and select 'Chat TOS' it tells you it's using Googles Jibe service.

Also, if you select 'Learn More About Chat', it takes you to Googles support pages.

You could always delete the apps data, and see if that helps.

OK I might try clearing the app data and cache. Could be due to having an older phone. I haven't seen that option yet
