Galaxy ZHI,
Is anyone having an issue with their Z Flip 3 where they open the phone, the screen comes on, and then almost immediately goes off, and won't come back unless the phone is closed/opened again, or an issue where they open the phone, the screen doesn't come on at all, but the phone still responds as if the phone is unlocked and working?
I've attached a video of some examples. Please excuse the heavy breathing, I was wearing my motorcycle helmet to record the video with the attached GoPro so I could use both hands to flip open the phone.
I reached out to Samsung support yesterday, and was told to reset all my settings to see if that fixes anything, but it didn't, so their next step was to post here.
I've also tried looking for others with the same issue, and only found one bloke on Reddit having the issue. Comments there say it's a hardware issue and the screen needs to be replaced.
My phone is just under 4 months old, I got it from JB, and there is no physical damage. Software is all up-to-date.
Is this a hardware issue, or is there another way to fix this?

Galaxy ZMy z flip 3 is doing the exact same thing. It started doing it about 11 months after I bought it, but it was the holidays and I was so busy and traveling so I didn't have a chance to do anything and now I'm pretty sure I'm out of warranty. Boo. I'm also having issues with the pre-installed screen protector (not the screen) wearing out from touching and cracking across the crease. I used to sing the praises of this phone to anyone who asked about it, but I'm accustomed to phone hardware lasting at least 3 years and with this one lasting less than 1, I really can't recommend it anymore.

Galaxy ZReading from all postings this seems like a very common problem. My phone just turns off when the flip is closed. Went to the local Samsung service centre and was informed that the lcd is faulty which would cost $600 to repair as it is out of warranty (just after 2 yrs). I questioned the logic of faulty lcd since the phone works fine when plugged in or when both screens opened. Then I was told the connector has an issue. I informed them that the phone had problem with internet and lately voice calls (other party could not hear) prior to the turning off problem. I suspect it was the latest software update but they insisted it was not and I gave up. I have been a loyal Samsung customer for the last 20 years (mobile and other electronics) but today's frustration did it. I would switch to Apple at least for my mobile phone.

Galaxy ZHello, yes I have this problem. My phone is still under warranty so I sent it in to be repaired but Samsung refused to fix it saying I had physically abused the phone. This is rubbish, it’s been in a shock proof case since I got it. There is a class action against Samsung in New York for this very issue. We need 7 people to start a class action here in Australia, or if you know of one that’s already started, let me know so I can join it!
