Can't voice-activate Google Assistant

After installing the beta, I can't activate the Assistant by saying "Hey Google" or "OK Google"

I have deleted and retrained the voice model, uninstalled both Google and assistant apps, restarted the phone, cleared cache and data without success.

Anybody have any other ideas?

did you change your power setting at all recently?

did not change any power settings, but I did do a factory reset... problems resolved.
