If anyone can help please...

I am trying to connect a galaxy tab a9+ to a keyboard and mouse through the usbc port using a hub. The mouse light turns on, the a9+ says 'usb connected' but there is no cursor and no inputs from keyboard or mouse.

I tried the same on my Galaxy s23+ phone and worked instantly.

If relevant, I have parental controls on the device.

TIA.

Try without the hub

Thanks, yes I tried just the usbc to usb female with just a mouse and still no luck.

I was on the samsung chat help this morning without any luck either.

All settings reset, latest update installed. I thought if it was common to the device there would be some chatter on the internet

Have you tried with another adapter?

Nope, I bought this one specifically for this use.

Is it possible for these adapters to work on some devices and not on others?

I think it comes down to the fact that the tab a series has much less usb performance than the tab s series which i have, compared to your smartphone which uses thunderbolt i think. Since the slower usb ports don't work with the data that your keyboard gives, that may be your problem.
Try going into settings, then general, than physical keyboard to see if anything is there

1. Google. Your usb setting can be charge only. So go into developer options (see Google or You Tube), then Google something like "samsung a9× change usb settings"
2
App adapters and connecting cables are not equal. You can look up the specs as some are charge only.
3. Testing for cahaege only load an app like Ampere. Well worthwhile to test which combination gives the highest charging speed.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try when I am home from work.

I did play with usb preferences in developer options with no success and then the samsung assistant remotely controlled the device and entered some usb settings via the dialler without success either.

With point 2. & 3., would that mean that the connector would not work universally? In my case it works fine with a s23+ phone and tab 6 lite tablet.

I don't know the answer but I am suggesting that the charger anc lead be the same when testing. I have mentioned elsewhere that I sent my S23 FE to Samsung because my wireless charging wouldn't work even though I had tried various cables and chargers, I was advised it was working. Tested some more and found the righf mix of cable and charger. BTW have you considered bluetooth? My combined bluetooth/wireless mouse cost $8 and there are bluetooth keyboards lots around around $20,try for one with both wireless and blutooth - I bought mine included in a protective hard cover for around $60.

Have you looked at DEX, ,limited to the tablet in the a9+, no external monitors but full monitor capacity in s23 subject to checking monitor specs. Might be better than using your tablet.

I will have to go buy another adapter to test this, so this option might have to wait until after I try other options.

If all else fails though maybe I will skip that and have to look at bluetooth mouse/keyboards that work without a dongle
