Using the Picture Test will help you determine if picture troubles you are experiencing may be caused by the TV itself or something else. The Picture Test will display an image that you can examine for faults. Follow the steps below for more information.

Performing a Picture Test

 
2020 & 2021 AU/TU/Q/LS Model TVs:

 

1. Press the Home button on your Samsung remote to bring up the Smart Hub and then select Settings.

2. Scroll down to the 1general-icon.png Support tab and then select Device Care.

Note: If Device Care is greyed out, please exit the app running in the background.

3. Your device will run a quick scan. Once completed, highlight and select Self Diagnosis located at the bottom of the screen.

4. Scroll across and select Picture Test. Once selected, an information screen will appear stating you are about to perform a Picture Test. Select OK to proceed.

5. A test picture will now appear. If the issue is intermittent or does not always show in the picture test, it is worth booking a technician to service the TV as it may still be a hardware fault.

2016 & 2019 NU/RU/Q/LS Model TVs:

 

1. Press the Home button on your Samsung remote control to bring up the Smart Hub and then select Settings.

2. Scroll down the tabs on the left-hand side and select 1support-icon.jpg Support. Once you are on the Support menu, select Self Diagnosis.

3. On the Self Diagnosis page scroll down the page and select Picture TestYou will then see a pop-up box informing you that a test photo will be shown. Select OK to advance.

4. A test picture will now appear. If the issue is intermittent or does not always show in the picture test, it is worth booking a technician to service the TV as it may still be a hardware fault.

Prior Models:

2015 (J Series) - (MENU/123) > MENU > Support > Self Diagnosis > Picture Test

2014 (H Series) - Support > Self Diagnosis > Picture Test

 

If the test photo is displayed without fault, there may be an issue with an external connected device/s. Check your external device connections, signal strength or refer to the external device's user manual.
